Last week, ITV’s This Morning show ran a poll asking “Who do you want to be Prime Minister after the General Election?“
The results were remarkable – especially in a context of supposedly dismal polling for the Labour Party. Here is a screenshot of the results whenover 146,000 respondents had voted:
Corbyn polled well over three times as well as the Prime Minister. Considering that most official polls use sample sizes of a couple of thousand people or fewer, such a response from a huge sample is striking.
The SKWAWKBOX did not cover the results at the time (apart from a tweet or two) because of the likelihood that complaints of ‘unscientific’ polling would be raised – even though the ‘scientific’ status of official polling is often questioned.
However, what is definitely newsworthy is that ITV have now removed the numbers from the response graphic.
